Youth Worship and Music

Youth Liturgists


One important way we include our youth in worship is our Youth Liturgist program. Youth who have a desire to pursue public speaking are encouraged to participate. Two or three times per school year, each Youth Liturgist will read the first Scripture reading duirng worship. Time requirements include thirty minutes of one-on-one prep time with Janie the week before the reading, a last run through the morning of the reading, and self-preparation at home. Youth Music

Youth Handbell Choir
Rev. Janie McElwee-Smith, Director

This intermediate handbell choir provides a musical outlet for interested youth who will learn everything from Christmas carols to Broadway show tunes. We meet October through the Spring to prepare pieces for worship and concert. This group also requires active and regular participation. Please contact Janie if your youth is interested in being a part of this group!


Youth Instrumentalists
We know that there are many talented musicians in our Youth Group who play a wide variety of instruments. If your youth would like to use these special gifts for worship, please contact Anna Owens.


Youth Band
Anna Owens, Director

Our Youth Band meets throughout the school year to lift our hearts and voices in worship and praise, using their gifts for worship and special events. This group is for High School youth and requires a strong commitment to active and regular participation. Please contact Anna Owens for more information.

Youth Sunday


Youth Sunday is a special opportunity for our youth to share their energy and gifts in order to lead our entire congregation in worship. Our youth take part in every aspect of the service and it is always a special day for our congregation!
